Course.

Vedic Astrology in evening classes or at home via the
web. Both
courses are for ten weeks.
Next
beginners course starts on Wednesday January 23rd 2008
Fee: Membership
of BAVA is included in the course fee of £195 per
term of ten lessons.
Venue: Conference
Room, Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Square, London W1T 6AQ.
Info on venue www.indianymca.org
Time: 7-9pm for 10 weeks.
The beginners
course has six modules and each module runs for ten weeks.
This course last two
years. The correspondence course runs concurrently with
the BAVA evening classes, so that students are able to
study
from home or with the classes and to change between the
two of them at any convenient time. Membership of BAVA
is
included in the course fee of £195 per term of
ten lessons. This also includes course book, ephemeris
and
other
course materials.
The course covers all of the basic
elements of this vast ancient science including its spiritual
and philosophical basis and will take you to basic competence
in two years at the end of which there are examinations.
A third year's study is available for those who wish to
study for professional examinations. For those who have
already studied Vedic Astrology for some time it is possible
to join one of the more advanced classes.
No prior knowledge of astrology
is required for the beginners course. Those with experience
of modern Western astrology are also welcome and will find
this knowledge of value in deepening their understanding
of astrology.
There are a small number of
set books for the course.
These will be available on mail-order from the UK if they
are not available locally. Advice on books to study is available
any time from Gordon Brennan. Students will also be given
a BAVA course book. This is a reference book of information
to refer to throughout the course. It is also advantageous
to have a Vedic Astrology computer programme. For beginners
the simple free ones, which can be downloaded from the internet
are adequate.
The basic course is divided
into six modules, one per
term of ten weeks. The course syllabus will cover all of
the basics of Vedic Astrology in the first two terms. This
will include an introduction to Indian Mythology and Philosophy
as well as an explanation of the main Sanskrit terms used
and basic astronomy. The third term of ten weeks concentrates
on the ability to read charts and gradually less on acquiring
new techniques.
Vedic Astrology is a very large
subject and the student needs
to become familiar with its terms in order to make good
progress. There may seem to be quite a lot to learn initially,
but as long as the principles are understood this will not
be difficult.
The fees for the beginners
course are £195 per term of ten weeks. 20% discount is given to full time students. Payment
by credit card is accepted (Tel 020 7377 0823).
